The natural vegetation is featured by the presence of areas with different climates: the Mediterranean olive-groves of Garda Lake (Cologna and Gavazzo area) alternates with the Alpine landscape of the higher village Villa del Monte with its ancient areas called Canale and Calvola. The scenery of the valley is made more attractive by its tormented orography characterized by the torrent Magnone, the main waterway, that, through a deep engraving along the calcareous rocks, falls headlong forming the Varone fall, a drop of 100 meters. At the north borders, as to suggest to the environment new color changes, a romantic small lake, brought about by a landslide, with its wooded islet covering the ruins of an ancient "forest of stone". Its grassy shores and the surrounding conifer wood are mirrored, with emerald-green colors, in the clear water of the lake. Over the top of a cliff impends the old Tenno Castle (XII century) with the ancient village of Frapporta, it seems built in a strategic position to observe the whole horizon, to protect and defend firmly its precious environmental, social and cultural heritage.
Other interesting historical and cultural testimonies are the painted church od S. Lorenzo, the medieval village of Canale and the archaeological site of San Martino.
In Canale di Tenno you can find a very interesting cultural centre, the House of Artists "Giacomo Vittone", created in 1968 thanks to the idea of the painter Giacomo Vittone. Here there are organized seminars, congresses, summer courses, hospitality for artists, school courses with Academies and Institutes of art and shows.
