Castel Beseno
The village of Beseno and the valley are dwarfed by the Castel Beseno, which represents the largest fortress of the feudalism of the region. One reaches the interior after having passed several fortified portals and a broad protective barrier with arches that lead to the main track of the fortress built by the counts von Trapp in the first half of the 16th century.
The internal ornate decorations show the classic gothic court painting and the so called "Month Cycle" bears witness of the fortress' careful maintenance and repair in the first half of the 5th century. The castle's former importance is visible through the many gangways, the cisterns, the high spiral staircases, the dark halls, the hidden yard and the numerous squares spread all over the area.
