3601_150_porcini2.jpgThe speck (smoked pork meat) is definitely a very special and typical product of the area of the highlands, naturally produced as in the old days.
Other typical products are certainly the Landjager and the Krainer: the first ones are small delicate wine-flavoured sausages; the second ones are cheese-and-meat pies.
Moreover, the woods of Lavarone are full of every kind of mushrooms, bilberries, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.
The "polenta di patate" is another speciality of the region: it consists of mashed potatoes cooked with butter, minced onion and Vezzena cheese. The dish is served with baked flesh and gravy.
Luserna also preserves its Germanic origins in the food: the Kaiserschmarren are hot pancakes, fried with butter and served with blueberry jam or, simply, with sugar.
